我不是大学生

在下班前，我再去商讨课程的安排。再次提到大学的制度， 训练部经理就假借今早会见老板时的话对我说：

‘今早我对老板说了，我不是大学毕业生，不懂大学的排课情况。别再对我说大学的情况。我就是知道这样的排课。’

他的为人这几个月我已经摸透了，他是那种声东击西的人。他的话是对我说的，在公司里，就只有三个大学毕业生， 我才不相信他敢如此说。

这也是他的说法。

我会借他过桥，给老板发封电邮。好好的谈谈这个事。 天啊，他问我，英文不是学到大学还要学的吗？

说多了，累。

离开，是时间上的问题而已。

How long to go…?

Again when touching on the school days, it is a pain in the ass. I did not really know whose idea. As I did not have the chance to talk to the big boss, of course, if I like, I could, but I did not like to do it. I felt that it would be the time just wait for the day to sign the RETIREMENT.

I just don’t know how many days I could go on but as long as the day of the next class coming in, I would be on the way to the clearing of my loan. Ya, from today on, I need only 40 more days and I could table my resignation letter if I want to.

The OD was sending me to the hypermarket, I need to purchase the fluorescent tube as the one in my room was out of light last night. I was working in the light from the pc. The OD asked me what was going on , I think the discussion of the time table was loud enough. Shit, all these people who are helping the boss in killing the innocent ones would not get good sleep at night. For those who have done the evil things, serve them right.

As a businessman, the training manager did not know how to overcome the time table planning. He said that people do not know the culinary industry. For goodness sake, what is so hard to plan the practical session and the theory sessions.

I did not like to tell him what to do, let him go through all the headaches and if he is willing to ask me, well, maybe I would like to share the experience. Otherwise, sorry to say so, let my days be a little happy.

This Saturday would be the Dinner and Dance. Sorry lah folks, I am not interested in this lah. What a formal night. All kinds of nonsense. This is the fun of the rich families. As the training manager reported during the weekly meeting, the students were paying for 1000 ringgit to get a new tuxedo done.

I shall email to the boss and the training manager a lie for not going to the D n D. it is the function for the fun. The boss as in the weekly meeting saying he throws in 10k as a support for the dinner. The student each still has to pay round 70 ringgit.

Of course, I would talk to the president of the event the same stupid lie. It is not because I am too old. But I am too lazy for that. Those with so less the experience, what they do would be wasting my time in writing to accomplish my mission in achieving the target for nanowrimo 08.

What a stupid thing only I realized that I could post some of the work here as the counting of the words would be done by the document submitted , thus, it could be able to post some of the usual complaints here. But it would be in English but not in Chinese language. Till now, I still have not reached half of the mark of 25k. It is just about a week to go. I think I could do it because I have many complaints to make.

So keep your fingers crossed to read the same usual complaints in the different form of writing symbols.

Don’t forget to go to the video blog, I have posted some of the Grace Chang, Gelan, the famous female film star in the 60s. Her song of ‘jajambo’ was the hit in the South East Asia perhaps Asia. I did not know much about her, as when I grew up in her songs but never had a chance to watch her film. The ticket for the film would be the day’s food. How could I have the chance to watch her. The Star, Moon and Sun, the book I read it years later and the film was also watch in the second run cinema.

It is coming to ten at night. This morning I woke up late, almost 8am, I did not on the second alarm clock. But I still manage to reach the office just few minutes late. I wrote the novel for the participation for the nanowrimo till the wee hours in the morning. The weather was nice. It poured the whole yesterday.

Now it is raining too. Today it rained many sessions but at least the rain stopped and people can go around.

I bought the fluorescent tube for 8 ringgit, I did not claim from my landlady. She has charged me ten ringgit less a month since I moved to the small room downstairs. Thus I felt that it would be wise to shoulder it. This poor lady has no income now, but would be better than me as she still can have the government pension monthly.

Her income from renting out the rooms would not be stable. Like now, only two rooms are rented out. Juts because my new office is not ready, if not, I would also be out of the house in USJ liao lor.

Still did not have my dinner yet. Just don’t know why I am still so energetic in typing these words. Maybe, the force of the nanawrimo. Keep going is the thought now lingering around my head.

What is solanine and is it toxic ? Eat potatoes raw ? be careful

What is solanine and is it toxic ?

A bitter poisonous glyco-alkaloid, C₄₅H₇₃NO₁₅, derived from potato sprouts, tomatoes, and nightshade and having narcotic properties formerly used to treat epilepsy. It is made of the alkaloid solanidine and carbohydrate (glyco-) side-chains.

It can occur naturally in the any part of the plant, including the leaves, fruit, and tubers. It is very toxic even in small quantities. Solanine has both fungicidal and pesticidal properties, and it is one of the plant’s natural defenses. Potatoes naturally produce solanine and chaconine, a related glycoalkaloid, as a defense mechanism against insects, disease, and predators. Potato leaves and stems are naturally high in glycoalkaloids.

Commercial varieties of potatoes are screened for solanine levels, and most have a solanine content of less than 0.2mg/g. However potatoes that have been exposed to light and started to green (see greening) can show concentrations of 1 mg/g or more. In these situations a single unpeeled potato can result in a dangerous dose.

Solanine Poisoning

Solanine poisoning is primarily displayed by gastrointestinal and neurological disorders. Symptoms include nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps, burning of the throat, headaches and dizziness. Hallucinations, loss of sensation, and paralysis, fever, jaundice, dilated pupils and hypothermia have been reported in more severe cases.

In large quantities, solanine poisoning can cause death. One study suggests that doses of 2 to 5 mg per kilogram of body weight can cause toxic symptoms, and doses of 3 to 6 mg per kilogram of body weight can be fatal.

Symptoms usually occur 8 to 12 hours after ingestion, but may occur as rapidly as 30 minutes after eating high-solanine foods.

Most solanine occurs in the skin or just under the skin of potatoes. Peeled potatoes have been found to contain 30-80% less solanine than unpeeled potatoes, and green potatoes should always be peeled if they are to be used at all. Solanine and chaconine are also present in potato shoots.

Deep-frying potatoes at 170 °C is effective at lowering glycoalkaloid levels, boiling is ineffective, and microwaving only somewhat effective.
